I WANT to thank you and the staff of the Times for your article about our appeal for funds for Linda and other children like her.
The people of Tavistock really showed the true meaning of Christmas by their generous giving of over £400. This money will go to help children like young Linda have a much better quality of life.
Schools have already been started in the country areas and Liz Hardinge, physiotherapist from Plymouth working in Rwanda, has agreed to help Linda.
We hope send out another team from Kings to central Africa around springtime this year and another in the summer. We are working to set up schools, clinics, dispensaries and first aid help. Also craft tools, computers, books, paper, pens and other equipment to help in education and setting up businesses to enable them to be self-sufficient
There is a real need to train the people in management, planning and administration so any qualified helpers would be welcomed. Clothes, toys, tools are still being collected for a container to go out soon.
All this costs so any donations are always greatly appreciated. We are working through trustworthy African people in their churches.
I would be pleased to give you more information — Derek Perry on 01822 834465.
So once again a big thank you to everyone, especially the Times and their staff.
Happy New Year and God bless you all.
Derek Perry and Kings
