THE urgent appeal by the livestock protection officer for Dartmoor (Times, October 31), for motorists to slow down on moorland roads will, I fear, fall on deaf ears. You might just as well talk to a brick wall!
Living on the main road, the A386 at Lydford, is like being at Silverstone for the Grand Prix. When leaving our house it is a nightmare, especially in the rush-hour — you take your life in your hands!
It is just the same in Mary Tavy when trying to keep to the 30mph speed limit, with many cars on your tail, some sounding their horns, some even over-taking.
The answer is human nature — you can always tell a man's character by the way he drives his car. Ninety-nine out of 100 fail miserably. They should never be allowed on the road!
