BAT's B played YMCA Kitto in their third match in division 5 of the Plymouth and District Badminton League. With two unbeaten sides meeting something had to give in this epic encounter.

In the men's doubles rubbers Paul Bitton, Michael Ward and Ewen Rae found the speed and power of the YMCA Kitto men too hot to handle. After some hard fought games YMCA Kitto won all three rubbers.

In the ladies' doubles rubbers Tamsin Woodroffe, Elizabeth Rae and Frances Ward continued their dominance by using their exceptional court craft to the full. At the end of the doubles rubbers all three rubbers had gone the way of BAT's without dropping a game.

With the match all square after the men's and ladies' doubles rubbers the mixed doubles rubbers would be very important. Ewen Rae and Tamsin Woodroffe got BAT's off to a good start but only after a nail-biting second game which they won 17-16 after which Tamsin dominated the net.

Michael Ward and Elizabeth Rae managed to force the second rubber into a third end but lost out, leaving the third rubber as being the deciding rubber for the match. Paul Bitton and Frances Ward then played a titanic third rubber that went again to three ends. The third end proved to be the game of the evening with the YMCA Kitto pair scraping home 15-14 to clinch the rubber and the match.

At the end of the evening BAT's B team had lost by the narrowest of margins, 4-5, to YMCA Kitto.
