Devon seconds B

Alphington seconds v Yelverton seconds

FOURTH placed Alphington batted first and got their innings off to a flyer putting on 42 off the first six overs.

Dom Rushton removed Barnes for 21 and this helped slow the run-rate and by mid innings, Alphingon had reached 102-4.

Tight bowling by David Ackford (0-13 off 5) and Andy Taylor 2-37 off 13) slowed the scoring rate in the second half of the innings as Alphington closed on 200-7 for maximum bowling points off the last ball of the innings.

Skipper Chris Pearson picked up late wickets to end up with 2-44.  Alphington's top scorer was Nick Ainscough with 69.

In reply, Yelverton were always slightly behind the clock but with Gerry Keen getting back into form with 40, youngster David Ackford with 18, and a belligerant 30 from skipper Pearson the Bohemians closed on 170-9 when the overs ran out.

Last pair Tony Carter and Jez Cramoysan batted out the last few overs to secure the draw.
