HIGH speed internet connections will soon be coming to Yelverton now the village has reached BT?s target trigger levels.
Residents? registrations for Broadband hit BT?s 350 trigger point last Thursday, eight days sooner than predicted, and work will now begin as soon as possible to bring the super-speed information super highway.
Last month BT reduced the target registration figure from 400 to 350 in an attempt to speed up the process of introducing Broadband to the village. This coincided with an increase in public interest and registrations.
Now new target levels are being set for villages in the area, such as Mary Tavy, which has a target figure of 150 and has already had 54 registrations.
Other news on the arrival of Broadband to West Devon is that it will be available from September 24.
Alison Stoneham, council press officer, said: ?It?s great news for everyone in the area. We are working very hard to get Broadband coverage extended across the borough.
?We have been lobbying very hard for BT to drop the trigger levels and will continue to do so. We feel the villages are very important places to be connected to broadband, it will be invaluable.?
#####################################################################################################################Broadband/ADSL will make internet connections faster and improve efficiency for web users in the villages. Business and pleasure users alike will benefit as they can have the internet connected all day, without having to miss important e-mails or phone calls.
Downloading music and films, and playing computer games on line will be made significantly faster and easier.
