THE Yelverton firefighters gave a warm welcome to a very special visitor to their station on Saturday.

Firefighter Oliver Probert was more than happy to meet four year-old Elsa Kendall, her twin sister, Charlotte, along with mum and dad Helen and Jason, for a personal tour and a privileged peek inside a fire engine.

Little Elsa, from Crapstone, was diagnosed with acute lymphatic leukaemia in October last year, and has to undergo a series of treatment, including drugs and chemotherapy at Derriford Hospital and and the Royal Bristol Hospital for Children.

Her dad Jason told the Times that they had a great time at the fire station, which has chosen the cancer charity, CLIC Sergent, as its designated charity this year.

Jason said: ‘CLIC Sergent have given both Elsa and our family so much great support. Only when something like this happens to you do you realise that there are people out there who do such great work in their community. The people at CLIC Sergent are really unsung heroes and we are really grateful to for all their support to Elsa and our family.’
