A CHEQUE for £1,860.06 was handed over to St Luke's Hospice as a result of the highly successful Yellow Day held in Tavistock on June 5th.

A large number of shops, businesses and other organisations took part in the day, which saw the town turning yellow in a variety of ways in order to raise money for the charity.

The cheque was handed over on August 20th in the offices of the Times by the newspaper's general manager, Lyn Roberts, and Carolyn Rickards from the advertising department. Debbie Sweet received the cheque on behalf of St Luke's Hospice.

Thanks were expressed to all who participated on the day: Tavistock Pannier Market, Tilly Whims, Honey's Wish, Wilkins Shoe Shop, A Scent-sations, Cultural Charm, A Rhyme in Tyme, Encore, Warren's Bakery, Palmers of Tavistock, John Baldwin Goldsmith, Tavistock Inn, Superdrug, Duke's Coffee House, The Original Pasty House, Treats, Triangle Centre, Colin Smith and Co, Tavistock Newspapers Ltd, Lawsons, Abbey Surgery, St Rumon's School, Jack and Jills, and TJ's Fish and Chip Shop.
