ALTHOUGH Christmas still feels far away, plans are well advanced for a Christmas Tree Festival to be held in St Eustachius Church in Tavistock in December.

The event is provisionally planned to take place from December 3 to December 7, to include the date of Dickensian evening in the town.

There will be 45 trees of various sizes available for decoration by local businesses and organisations.

The festival is being organised by the Friends of St Eustachius, who are hoping for a variety of themes to reflect the nature of each contributor.

Admission will be by programme and refreshments will be served in the Parish Centre. Various musical events will take place during the festival.

Most of the trees have been reserved but there are a few available. Anyone interested in booking a tree should call the parish adminstrator on 01822 616673.

Tree decoration will take place on December 1 and 2 and they will be dismantled on December 7 and 8. Donations are invited from exhibitors to help cover the cost of the trees.
