PEOPLE from across West Devon enjoyed theatre skills workshops run by the Tavonians last month, and there is another chance to get involved this weekend.

The Tavonians, Tavistock's amateur theatre company, have engaged professional tutors to run open workshops helpful both to experienced actors and those wanting to give drama a try.

The second block of workshops starts tonight (Thursday) with 'Page to Stage', a session on working with scripts at 7.30pm, in the Guide Hall, Canal Road, led by Steph Reese, director of Regarding Eve Theatre Company and TC2 children's theatre. Tomorrow's (Friday) workshop on singing is already fully booked.

On Saturday February 19, Sarah Ashford-Hart, who has studied drama in New York, Dublin and Moscow, and is now based in Totnes, will lead two workshops at the United Reformed Church Hall in Russell Street.

The morning, starting at 10am, covers devising and improvising scenes. The afternoon session includes stage fighting, staging dynamic combat scenes and safe choreography of impressive physical stunts.

Places are likely to be available on the door this weekend. Participants should be over 16, and under 80, and come appropriately dressed. Each workshop costs £5.
