I WOULD like to add my comments to those made by the Rev Mike Davies in the reflections column of the Okehampton Times last week. Reference was made to the Festival of Faith organised by Christians Together in Okehampton (CTO). I attended most of the events hosted by different churches in the town and gained fresh insight from each one. Most memorable were the film entitled 'God is not Dead' shown in the cinema and the presentation at St Boniface Catholic Church. On both occasions we could all hear loud and clear what the Christian message was. The first via the story of a young freshman in America; the second via local Christians representing all seven churches. At the final event in the Charter Hall CTO was likened to a jigsaw made of many different pieces but when put together makes a recognisable picture. As I see it, the town of Okehampton is like a kaleidoscope which, when shaken, presents a different pattern depending on the arrangement of the pieces. This offers residents and visitors alike various perspectives. There was one common thread throughout the festival. It was obvious that those taking part were full of zest especially during the singing. What I wonder is the common thread running through the wider community? One thing is for sure: working together is better. V Cushing Okehampton
