YEAR six pupils Gabriela Wisniewska, Tom Spooncer and Megan March from Lifton Primary School, pictured with headteacher Melanie Cripps, attended the Youth Speaks competition at Kelly College and came in first place.

The competition, run by the Rotary Club, involves children choosing a subject and debating it in front of a large audience. The school's lively and entertaining debate on 'whether parents should be made to attend parenting classes' qualified the team to compete at the next stage of the competition in Callington on Wednesday, February 12.

The competition was very tough with teams competing from many local schools. Melanie Cripps said was proud and delighted at the outcome and said the year six pupils were 'word perfect'.
