A BIG thank you has this week been issued by organisers of the Operation Sunshine charity, who recently put out an appeal for wool in the Times.
Linda Downing, a knitting co-ordinator for the charity which sends goods out to the needy in Africa, had been running low on stocks of wool to pass on to her army of regular volunteer knitters.
They turn the donated wool into jumpers, blankets and hats which are regular sent to Africa.
But thanks to the generosity of Times readers, the depleted wool mountain is now back to healthy stock levels, according to Linda.
?One of my ladies has a summerhouse full,? said Linda. ?It?s wonderful ? I don?t have to ration people to half a dozen balls now! Not only will they benefit in Africa, my elderly ladies who do the knitting benefit from having something to do too.?
Anyone wishing to contribute wool to Operation Sunshine can leave it at the collection point in Tavistock Library.
