Devon and Exeter Intermediate Cup second round

Okehampton Argyle Thirds 5

Bradninch 1

OKEHAMPTON booked their place in the last 16 of the cup in some style, scoring five goals. They pressed from the start and on three minutes, after a neat exchange with Shane Monnox, Chris Hollands found himself one-on-one with the keeper and applied a cool finish to put Argyle one up.

Okehampton continued to attack and after Tom Hall was brought down in the box a penalty was awarded which James Callaghan scored.

Okehampton's third came soon after; the Bradninch keeper spilled a Nick Jones cross with Shane Monnox there to tap in. The fourth was the pick of the bunch.

After a quick free kick, Richard Caron ran down the left wing, beating three defenders before reaching the edge of the box and hammering a left foot drive into the net from a seemingly impossible angle.

The second half started as the first ended with the Bradninch defence struggling to cope with the energy and tenacity of the Okehampton attack. But the game changed when a collision in the box left the Bradninch keeper badly injured.

The game was delayed for 25 minutes after which a rejuvenated Bradninch took the play to the hosts.

The defence held firm and stand in keeper Ben Woodhouse did a fantastic job making a number of top class saves. Bradninch did get a consolation goal after a foul throw from Nick Jones gifted possession to them. They took the throw quickly and smashed in from 25 yards.

Okehampton restored their four-goal advantage when after a great run Hollands squared back for Nathan McCluskey to score.
