Devon & Exeter Senior 3
Colyton 2
South Zeal Utd 3
ZEAL had a good first 15 minutes in this relegation battle at Colyton on Saturday, but for the remainder of the half they were under severe pressure from the home side?s mobile forwards.
Zeal could well have taken an early lead when Harley Cann broke through but his shot went inches wide. Colyton then put on the pressure and scored twice within ten minutes from two close range efforts after their left-sided midfielder had created the opportunities.
Zeal were breaking spasmodically and finally reduced the deficit to one goal; when Alan Vile was brought down in the area and Steve Pillivant converted the resulting penalty.
Zeal could have been three or four down at half-time but once they had sorted out the home side?s left-hand side dominance, thanks to great work by Redd Cann, the match turned around dramatically.
The equaliser was well deserved and came ten minutes into the second half when a corner from Pillivant was headed across goal by Reg Wonnacott, leaving Lee Gilbert to head home from close range.
The winner came ten minutes from time from Wonnacott who smashed a free kick into the roof of the Colyton net from 20 yards.
This week, away at Honiton, kick-off 3pm.
