EXCEPTIONAL exhibits greeted visitors to the 101st annual show of Bere Ferrers Horticultural Society's Gardening Club in the parish hall.

Well supported this year were the classes for Pot plants, flowers — the hues of sweet peas, roses and lilies were a delight, and the decorative section in which exhibitors' imagination took flight with a theme of 250 years of Kew.

The primary school children were congratulated on their various entries , certain children can always be relied on to spend hours on their exhibits.

There has been a steady decline in the vegetable classes in recent years, possibly due to the weather, or maybe the change in timing from September to July, but the exhibits were of the high standard expected.

The photography section is proving popular with exhibitors and visitors alike. There was a limit of only two entries per person per class this year. There were many favourable comments from the judges, R Shaw and Mr Baker (vegetables and flowers), Mrs I Snell (floral art), Mrs M Lethbridge and Mrs A Yeo (domestic), Mrs E Foster (handicrafts), Mrs D Roxburgh (art) and J Hooper (photography).

There was a raffle and a splendid array of plants for sale. Dr W E Leverton president, presented the trophies to the following:
