ANY women looking for a chance to begin something new this year might like to help others by becoming a volunteer for the South Devon Women?s Aid West Devon Outreach Project. The project is looking to recruit more volunteers to staff its helpline and offer face to face support for women and children affected by domestic abuse. New recruits will become part of a highly motivated and positive team of women from all walks of life. No formal qualifications are needed, but the project is looking for women who already have, or can quickly acquire, good listening skills and demonstrate genuineness and non-judgemental acceptance of all women who use the services. Anyone interested in joining will receive free comprehensive training, lots of support and a chance to be involved in many other aspects of the work such as publicity, training and awareness raising. As volunteers are a highly valued part of the service the project encourages self-development through ongoing training. The next training programme begins at the end of April. Contact 01837 53321 to hear more and receive an application pack.
