CALLINGTON Colts enjoyed one of their best weekends since being formed some 18 years ago as they saw six of their seven sides come through the weekend unbeaten, with no fewer than four of them gaining final berths in thrilling matches. The U14 boys were first to succeed, with a 6-0 demolition of Mayflower FCC in the Plymouth Cup semi-final with Rodukov hitting a hat trick. Mortimore, Jasper and Patten scored the other goals. They will meet Tamerton Foliot in the final. Not to be out done, their U12 colleagues also won through to their Vanguard final with a 5-0 victory over Ivybridge Town to set up a final showdown with Elburton Villa. Ewing hit three with Buck and Crago also netting. The U16 team, who once went two years without winning, also showed the improvements they have had when they beat Hooe Rovers 5-4 on penalties to win the Rodney Cup semi-final after the game had finished 3-3 with Sam Shepherd hitting all three for the Cornish side. They face Plymstock United in the final. The fourth side through to their final are the U14 girls who hit five against Old Suttonians in the Cup with Knighton hitting three and Drake and Randall adding the others. Their opponents will be Tavistock. In the league, the U11 boys beat Railway Beacon 7-3 in the Drake league to keep themselves in fourth place. Searle (3), Mc Callion, Prescott and Callender all hit the target. The U13 boys fought out a creditable 3-3 draw with third placed Elm United to keep themselves in second spot, only two points behind leader Efford Youth. The only reverse for the Cornish team came in the Girls U12 Ocean league where Activate completed a 5-0 victory over the Callington girls but the side are still well placed in third place in the league.
