THERE were some weird and wonderful sights at Tavistock Pannier Market recently as traders again took part in an Easter bonnet competition.

The traders made unusually wonderful hats to wear and wowed customers with their creations.

Trader Brett Kinsman-Daw said: 'This year we had another range of wonderful Easter hats, which have been a great talking point as well as providing laughter to both customers and traders alike.

'I would like to say a big well done to all those involved and thank you to the judges who I am sure had a very difficult time deciding who should win.'

Winners of the Easter bonnet competition from the women's category were Angela Banfield of Elliru Designs in first place, Jane Eslick on Charlie's Pound Stall in second place, and Sally McCarter, owner of Colours of Creation, who won third place.

Alan Ward and Colin Jenkins won first and second place in the men's category and Jessica Thompson won an Easter egg for wearing the best hat in the children's category.
