THE latest round of golf?s Devon County Winter Medal Series was held at Yelverton last Thursday.

With thick fog and drizzle, the start had to be delayed and this meant the full 18 holes could not be played due to bad light. The event was reduced to 13 holes and the winner was Teign Valley?s Barry Austin.

He shot a four under par score of 48 to claim a one-shot victory from David Sheppard (Unattached) and Chris Gill (Crediton) on 69.

Barry said: ?I played nicely all day, hit all greens in regulation and holed some nice putts on very good greens.

?I hope my form continues as I?m playing in the final of the South West Foursomes in two weeks with the owner of Teign Valley, Sue Pearman. I hope my love affair with Yelverton continues.?
