The award winning Tamar Valley Carnet Ticket Scheme is three years old this week ? and Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership is celebrating with a special carnet-shaped cake at Levine?s Post Office in Calstock and half-price books of tickets to be used before June 30. The scheme started as a six-month pilot scheme in 2004 and proved so popular that it has been extended at the end of each six-month period. Carnet tickets are books of ten single discounted tickets for journeys on the Tamar Valley between Gunnislake and Plymouth. They are only available at shops and post offices in the Tamar Valley. The scheme won national recognition at two national rail awards, once for Community Rail Marketing Award and a second for innovation.
