A TAVISTOCK College student has just been invited to join the UK National under 15 windsurfing squad. Sam Sills was selected by the Royal Yachting Association to be in a group of five boys and two girls to train and race for Great Britain. It is from the junior squads that future Olympic champions emerge. When Sam was just ten years old he was talent spotted by an RYA coach at Roadford Lake and has since gone on to win numerous competitions both at regional and national level. This summer he competed in the Junior Windsurfing World Championships in Poland and was in 14th place out of 46 competitors and first out of the 13 year olds who took part. During the past two years Sam has won two national titles at Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy. He is now looking forward to training with the national squad and particularly taking part in the World Championships in Sicily next year. Sam has had a lot of support and is very grateful to a local sail loft, Lodey Sails in Marazion.
