HEAVY rain and high winds caused problems for motorists and householders in West Devon on Monday.
During the morning the main A386 near Kelly College was closed for a time after a tree came down in high winds.
Crowndale Road, by Tavistock College, was closed due to flooding, and Anderton Lane in Whitchurch was also closed, when the Tiddybrook flooded both the road and the new footpath.
Firefighters diverted floodwater away from houses in Lamerton during the storm.
The River Walkham burst its banks in Horrabridge and driving was hazardous throughout the area including at Merrivale on Dartmoor where water run-off and high river levels made conditions difficult for motorists.
