Devon & Exeter Senior 1 League Okehampton 1st 1 Exeter St Thomas 1 THIS game was played in difficult conditions. With a strong easterly wind blowing throughout the 90 minutes both sides struggled to play any tidy football. Okehampton started with four regular first team players missing through injury and within ten minutes found themselves a goal behind when the St Thomas forward found himself in space on the edge of the Argyle box. He hit the ball over the keeper ? this proved to be one of the few clear cut chances in the game. Argyle pressed hard and managed to equalise on 20 minutes when Robert Sandercock beat his marker on the left wing and lobbed the ball to the far post. Aided by the wind it ended up in the net. Both sides continued to work hard and most of the threats came from corners with the keepers choosing to punch the ball clear rather than chance trying to catch it cleanly. Adam Mortimore almost stole the points for Argyle in the last few minutes when he shot from the edge of the box, trying to curl the ball in the bottom corner and just missing the target. This week away to Bickleigh, 3pm kick-off.
