WHAT is it about the lovely town of Tavistock that sees so many organisations deserting it? We no longer have a local JobCentre, or magistrates' court. They are now located in Plymouth.
When Focus DIY closed, B&Q took over the Launceston store but not Tavistock, which leaves Tavistock without a DIY/Garden Centre.
Now, it seems that Lloyds Bank — which has been in the town for many years — is one of the branches listed for being taken over by the Co-operative Bank.
Having been with Lloyds Bank since a small boy, and not favouring an account with the Co-operative, what am I to do? I either have to change bank after all these years or move my account to Plymouth.
There seems to be an assumption that all Tavistock residents are happy to travel in and out of Plymouth for all their transactions.
As both railway services deserted the town some years ago, this means yet more travel on congested roads. Perhaps the objective is to make Tavistock a dormitory town for Plymouth?
