IN 1935 the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway closed. A devoted admirer placed a wreath at Barnstaple Town Station bearing the words ?Perchance it is not dead but sleepeth?.

The line is now awakening from its slumber and diesel and steam trains run from Woody Bay Station on a short length of track. The words ?Now awakening? appear on the front cover of their brochure.

Can we hope that our local line between Okehampton and Exeter might soon awaken with weekday trains?

This would be good for Okehampton, especially as at the moment the bus service between Okehampton and Exeter does not represent the cream of bus operation.
