Jeffreys Knockout Cup third round

Lamerton 8

Lanivet 1

LAMERTON progressed into the quarter-finals with this comfortable win.The game began with the home side missing two good chances in the first minute before Steve Wickett opened the scoring after shooting across the visitors? keeper.

They doubled their advantage a few minutes later when Kev Fedrick converted a Kev Swift pass. Lanivet then pulled a goal back when Jamie Sargent outpaced the Lamerton defence to bring the visitors back into contention.

Lamerton then upped their game and a series of well weighted through balls from Panda Williams, Grahame Cole, Paul Breyley and Kev Fedrick allowed Wickett?s pace to put the game beyond Lanivet?s reach at half-time. He even scored direct from a free kick to make the half-time score 7-1 and take his personal tally to six.

Lanivet battled hard in the second half and only allowed one further goal to be scored when Wickett got his seventh.

This Saturday Lamerton return to league action with an away fixture against Looe, kick-off 2.30pm.

St Mawes 0

Callington Thirds 5

CALLINGTON?S domination was such that if they had taken their chances in the first half, the scoreline could have been doubled. Strong first half performances from, midfielders, Adam Reid and Ben Smith set up chance after chance but neither Floyd or Bassett , starting his first game of the season, could do enough to get Callington in front.

But ten minutes into the second half the game changed, when the referee awarded a penalty for handball. McPherson slotted the ball into the net and Callington were suddenly on fire. Within ten minutes the game was over as a contest. Hartly hit a volley that the keeper was still waiting for as it hit the back of the net and quickly followed it up with his second.

Callington were rampant and it was only fitting that Floyd got the fourth, his all round work rate deserved it.

Evan Wooley got in on the act. Still running hard late in the game he appeared to trip himself up when well placed and got lucky as the keeper, in trying to get at the ball, scooped his legs from under him and set up Hartly for his hat-trick from the penalty spot.

A great win against a side from two divisions higher.

Torpoint 4

Bere Alston Utd 6

BERE went two up in the first 20 minutes with Sharrock curling a shot around the keeper and Wheeler scoring from the spot after Vanstone was taken out.

Bere missed several chances before twice they stood waiting for offside and Torpoint pulled level.

Westlake restored Bere?s lead, hitting home from a Brooks centre. Back came Torpoint and went in front with a free header.

Bere put in a great last 15 minutes as they stormed forward, Aggiss hitting home from a corner and minutes later outpacing defenders and blasting home.

Torpoint?s keeper made a brilliant save but the ball fell for Crabb to volley home.

This Saturday Duchy division 2, away to St Anne?s Chapel, 2.30pm kick-off. Reserves away in division 4 east at St Dominick, 2.30pm kick-off.
