A RETURN to the Ambrosia factory in Lifton which they first visited 50 years ago formed part of the golden anniversary celebrations for Bere Ferrers WI.

Twenty members and guests and two founder members were given a warm welcome from the general manager Steve Pretty who produced an aerial photograph of the site in the 1960s.

A presentation of Ambrosia's history and development was given beginning with information about the original factory built by Alfred Morris in 1917.

Ambrosia is one of the largest employers in the area with 290 people on the books, 200 of whom are engaged in production.

Following the presentation, the WI members were decked in protective clothing and given a tour of the factory and afterwards thoroughly enjoyed a tasting session.

Mr Pretty was thanked for a memorable visit and everyone was presented with a goody bag.
