SPORTS clubs in West Devon are being urged to nominate their coaches to the county Coach of the Year award.
The sports awards ceremony will be held in North Devon this November and is held annually to recognise and honour outstanding contributions made by coaches in Devon.
Ruth Thorne, West Devon Borough Council sports development officer, said the role of coach had become increasingly important in today's sport.
'The quality of sports development programmes and the enjoyment, safety and performance of participants are directly linked to the qualityof the coach. It is therefore vital to recognise the contributions coaches make to sport in this area,' Ruth said.
There are four categories: female coach, male coach, young coach and coach of disabled performers.
The closing date for nominations is Friday October 19, and forms have already been sent to clubs in the borough, but they can also be obtained from Ruth on 01822 813628
