SIX new dog bins are being purchased for Calstock parish and help is being sought for where to place them.
Calstock Parish Council wants the public to suggest where the bins could go in areas where there is a particular problem with dog fouling.
The bins have cost £1,500 and will cost £600 a year to maintain. The rest of the parish's dog bins are owned by Cornwall Council but the authority has refused to provide any more because of budget restraints.
There has been a demand from the public for more dog bins but the parish also wants dog walkers to be more responsible and use the facilities.
There have been incidents of people putting dog mess in the salt bins which are very large and yellow. The dog bins are either black or red and have a picture of a dog on the front.
Parish clerk Sue Lemon said the money being used to buy the bins is what was allocated to fill up the salt bins last year but it was not needed.
Anyone with any suggestions of where to put the bins is being asked to contact the council on 01822 835038 or email [email protected]">[email protected]
