THE trend for using metal as a sculpting material has increased this year at a garden sculpture exhibition being held on Dartmoor this summer. The Mythic Garden Sculpture Exhibition is being held for the 14th time at Stone Lane Gardens near Chagford. Every year, work by many different sculptors and designers is presented within the five-acre garden amid National Collections of birch and alder in a landscaped water and woodland setting. This year, metal has increasingly been used by artists although stone-carving, wood-carving and ceramics remain popular. Artists are also becoming increasingly inventive in their use of recycled materials. This year?s sculpture exhibition which has been subtitled ?Woodland Works? opened on Sunday and runs until the end of September. The exhibition showcases more than 100 sculptures by 44 artists and designers.
