SO, an 'independent panel of West Devon business people' have recommended that ratepayers increase councillors' allowances by over 300 per cent.
Why? Are we short of volunteers to be councillors? It is not meant to be a job and 'allowances' are not like salaries which have to be pitched to attract employees of the right calibre.
When do the ratepayers have their say on this proposal?
