I AM researching, as so many people do these days, family history. My family lived in Tavistock in the 1880s to 1900, at Pepper Street. They were called Curry, and Lashbrook. I have a little problem that maybe your readers could help me with. In the 1881 Census, the Curry family were recorded at 1 Love Lane, and this is my problem, I have Ordnance Survery of Tavistock for 1905 but Love Lane does not appear on it. In the Census, No.1 is the only house noted, so it may have been an annex. The other possibilty is that it could be connected to the Post Office as later census records show Mr John B.Curry (my family member) the head, to be rural postman. In the 1901 Census, Mr Curry?s address is 1 Pepper St, I am wondering if 1 Love Lane was renamed to 1 Pepper Street. If you or any of your readers could help me out on this matter I would be very grateful. Terry Farr 9 Conifer Crescent Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. R2J 1V4 Email: [email protected]">[email protected]
