TAVISTOCK will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the Western League Premier Division when they entertain Ashton & Backwell United on Saturday (3pm).

The Lambs are 13 points clear of second-placed Bridgwater United, having played one match more than the Somerset side.

Saturday’s visitors, meanwhile, are second bottom – having won three and drawn three of their opening 22 games.

They do, however, have a nine-point buffer between themselves and Bridport, who prop up the table.

In the Peninsula Premier West, Callington Town will be looking to extend their unbeaten league run when they entertain Penzance on Saturday (3pm).

Cally’s run of eight league games without defeat has seen them rise to 12th in the table, eight points ahead of the second-bottom Magpies.

And in the Devon Football League South & West division, Bere Alston United are set to make the journey to Ipplepen Athletic on Saturday (2.15pm).

The travellers are sixth in the division with five wins from their opening 11 games – the last of those victories coming against Newton Abbot Spurs Reserves back in November.
