WE all have dreams, I know I do. One dream envisages winning a roll-over lotto. If I did I should immediately explore the idea of opening a railway from the Yelverton area to Princetown.

Much of the track-bed of the old GWR is still in situ. The line would be narrow-gauge with oil-fired steam locomotives to obviate fires caused by sparks. I am thinking of something like the very successful Ffestiniog Railway in North Wales.

Our tourist industry would gain greatly from such a railway, running through magnificent scenery. Enthusiasts would come from far and wide. Both Yelverton and Princetown would receive more visitors to enhance their trade. Road traffic would be lighter over the moor as people took to the train.

There are several of these narrow gauge railways in Britain some in National Parks. It is high time we thought of constructing one here in Devon.
