FOR the third year, Kelly House, near Lifton, will open its doors to the wool-loving public this weekend, to showcase local products and support the Children's Hospice South West.
Bringing together stalls and exhibits of the best woollen products from all over the west country, this year's Woolly Weekend is set to be bigger and better than the previous events.
Once again, local wool artist Alison Murray will be displaying a part of her magnificent works —this year her truly enormous Knitted Dragon — which will be travelling the world hot on the heels of her previous works, which include a life size knitted cottage and twenty foot Christmas tree.
In addition the house will host producers of the finest local wool products, including knitwear, felt, yarns and knitting accessories for the enthusiasts, spinners and a knitting corner for those wanting to contribute a few minutes of their time to the next charity project.
There will also be knitting workshops on free-form knitting throughout the event, allowing the public to ask questions and get tips from more advanced knitters.
Hot and cold food will be available all day, with tea, coffee and homemade cakes on sale in the 16th century Great Hall tea-room.
This is also a great opportunity to see the house after the continuing renovations, with entry to the whole event at £3 per person, including £1.50 donation to the Children's Hospice Charity.
