TAVISTOCK Athletic Club held its annual presentation evening for the juniors at Tavistock Rugby Club, where there were numerous trophies and certificates won.

The juniors had a superb year in both the winter and summer competitions. The winter season saw some outstanding results in the cross-country meetings and one athlete won all of the league fixtures to become the U13 boys champion.

In the indoor sportshall there were more than 10 club records being broken with most the athletes gaining top three places at the county championships, with some even becoming a county champion.

Selection from the counties led to several athletes representing their county and competing at the South West regionals where even more success was to come.

The juniors took their winter success into the summer where they had an excellent track and field season. As a club, Tavistock AC retained their title winning the Devon Open series.

While on an individual basis, there were countless personal bests and an incredible 29 club records broken. In the power of 10 rankings several athletes stood out, reaching a top 100 performance and the club even has a first and third ranking in the country for their age groups.

Many athletes picked up medals at the county championships and some went on to represent their county and compete at the regionals and national championships.

TAC Juniors head coach Adam Tofield was very proud of what had been achieved in the 2010/2011 season.

He said: 'It was a fantastic year for the juniors of Tavistock Athletic Club and possibly one of the best in the club's history. The junior athletes progressed really well over the winter and totally dominated in the summer, going beyond our expectations. They have had to work really hard to get where they are, but it was all worth it in the end and they should be really proud of what they have achieved. Were all really looking forward to 2012 now.'
