THE 119th Devon County Show created a happy atmosphere in its 25th year at the Westpoint showground in Exeter did not so much defy the elements as take advantage of them as relaxed visitors dodged the showers. Show secretary Ollie Allen described the elements as 'ideal show weather'. The show's reputation as one of the foremost agricultural shows in the country brought visits by both the Defra Secretary of State, Owen Paterson, and the new President of the NFU, Meurig Raymond. Highlights in the livestock rings included the coming of age for Yeomadon Luther from Coryton who was crowned Devon breed champion. He is the son of Yeomadon Ferdinand, a former great Devon breed champion.  West Devon entrants were very much to the fore with entries in both the livestock and the trade and exhibition stands. Headline entertainment included the Kangaroo Kids acrobatic quad bike display, the The Devon and Cornwall Police Dogs display team and even the UK Snail Racing Championships. The show also received a royal visitor with HRH The Duke of Kent making an appearance. l The show was unfortunately cancelled on the Saturday due to car parking problems.
