THE newly-launched Devon Trade Justice Network has set up a series of information sessions across the county to answer questions relating to world trade in their fight against world poverty.

Sessions already held, including one at Okehampton, have helped answer questions, including topics such as the links between debt and trade, how the system works and how it can be changed to benefit the world's poor.

A spokesman for Devon Trade Justice Network said trade liberalisation was very damaging to the livelihoods of small-scale farmers — not only in poor countries like India but also in the USA and Canada.

'Food security is close to us all and fair and just trade rules are desperately needed,' she said.

Further information sessions include one in Tavistock at Kingdon House tonight (Thursday) from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. Membership of the organisation is free and more information can be obtained from Sue Errington on 01626 821745.
