Liberal Democrats parliamentary spokesperson for West Devon and Torridge, Adam Symons, hailed the new leader of his party, Nick Clegg, as one of the few 'human' politicians. Mr Symons said: 'Mr Clegg has promised to give a voice to the people of West Devon who feel ignored by MPs who live and work in London, and don't see the rural poverty of the area at first hand.' He added: 'Nick Clegg is going to be a great leader. Why? Because he is human, and he feels the same way that most of us do — disillusioned by two "clone" parties who huff and puff so much, but achieve so little. 'Labour and the Conservatives share so many policies of change, yet fight to keep the status quo. 'What they don't realise is that being a representative is actually about representing people — not their own views. The time has come for a politician who will speak up for real people and local communities.'
