WEST Devon Borough Council is offering advice to residents over today’s refuse and recycling collections, which may be disrupted by the severe weather conditions in some areas.

Residents are being asked to leave refuse or recycling out until 7pm this evening and the council will continue to collect where it is safe to do so. The crews may be working later into the day if the icy weather delays their start times in the worst hit areas.

If crews are unable to collect today, people are asked to take in any refuse or recycling and store away ready to put back out for collection on Saturday, March 24.  At this stage, the council does not expect any disruptions to collections between Tuesday and Friday.

The borough council’s website and social media will be updated regularly with local information.

All of the council’s office-based staff have laptops with telephone headsets, which allows them to work from any location, meaning that staff are able to keep safe and warm at home.

However, the council reception at Tavistock’s Kilworthy Park is still open for business today, operated by staff who can safely travel to work.

The Okehampton staff are unable to get to their office safely today so will support residents from home. The council would like to thank all residents for their co-operation and patience.
