DURING a recent visit to the Tavistock Hospital physiotherapy department Wendy Pulleybank was asked if she would be prepared to encourage another stroke victim to walk in the Meadowlands swimming pool.

Wendy herself is a stroke victim and had worked at the pool so the management agreed that Wendy could use the facility to assist the patient’s recovery.

She decided that by walking 100 lengths of 25 metres on the poolside herself and giving encouragement to the patient, she could also try to get local sponsorship to help the local Triangle Centre. She raised £200 for the centre through the walk.

The Triangle Centre is a drop in support centre for cancer patients and careers, operating all day on Friday each week at the Tavistock clinic on Plymouth Road.

Wendy was pleased with her achievement, and is planning to organise another such event in 2016.
