THE savage funding cuts from Central Government are really beginning to show.
Tavistock’s Redmoor Close resident Fred Phillips decided to do something about the weeds which were making where he lives and loves look uncared for.
Mr Phillips contacted me and with genuine regret I was unable to offer any county council support for doing the weeding.
Dwindling funds go to the most vulnerable and all I could offer were some suggestions, however I believe Mr. Phillips had a cunning plan without too much help from me!
Undaunted, realistic and proactive, Fred Phillips ‘grasped the nettle’ and delivered an invitation to all his neighbours asking if residents would like to help him clear the weeds during the weekend of August 21 / 22.
There was a really good response with many neighbours young and old doing their bit and now the estate looks immaculate.
Neighbours who have never spoken to each other joined forces and I am told had a really good time socialising and enjoying making their neighbourhood look better. Well done Redmoor Close residents!
