I WOULD like to convey my heartfelt gratitude, as well as offering congratulations, to Sue Enderson and Don Bent and to all of the organising committee of the Okehampton 'Jubilee Party in the Park'.

It was a fabulous day for the people of Okehampton and incredibly well attended. From start to finish it was exceptional and a truly enjoyable occasion.

Appreciation must also be given to all of the helpers, and to the participants who thoroughly entertained and occupied the crowds throughout the event.

It was a day to be remembered and talked about for years to come!

Well done, Okehampton.

Mike Davies

Okehampton Town Mayor

I THOUGHT that I should put pen to paper to say how proud I have been to see how well the community of Okehampton has come together over the last few weeks.

The turnout for the Olympic Torch was outstanding, but the enthusiastic crowds at the Party in the Park for the Queen's Jubilee was simply wonderful to behold.

We need to thank all those individuals and organisations that have been involved in arranging this event, especially Susan Enderson for her ideas, drive and enthusiasm, but I would also like to publically thank Don Bent, our town clerk, for all his efforts in this, and all the other events he has been involved in putting together on behalf of the town council.

The administration required for even a small event is tremendous, and although the Government had said that the bureaucracy and red tape would be lifted for the Jubilee, it seems that it was in fact made just as difficult, so well done to all concerned, and thank you all again for a wonderful day, which has been yet another piece of very important history made for the town of Okehampton.
