Second Battery Colts U18s 4

Tavistock CFC U18s 4

SECOND Battery started with purpose but, while they had a lot of possession, they were unable to penetrate Tavistock's well-structured defence, and it was Tavistock who proved the more threatening when in possession, taking them just eight mins to open their account. Good play down the right between Matt Havron, Jonny Hake and Ed Argles worked an opening for Louis Wilson who released Ian Harvey to score.

Tavistock doubled their lead after twelve mins, when an SB attack was broken up following a strong tackle by Cadan Lowther, who quickly released Jack Quinn down the left who, in turn, picked out Zak Musson with a neat pass up the touchline. Musson cut the ball back into the area where Harvey pounced to claim his second goal.

Good defensive play by Nick Cunningham and Jack Taylor again kept SB at bay and their long distance shots never looked like troubling keeper, Brad Monk, but on the half hour mark SB were given a lifeline when they were awarded a very dubious penalty, following a dive that Tom Daley would have been proud of, which Monk was unable to save.

SB were now brimming with confidence and playing at a higher tempo which Tavistock struggled to live with, and on the stroke of halftime they grabbed their equaliser.

After the break it was Tavistock who came out of the traps quickest, and five mins after the restart they fortuitously regained the lead.

But again Tavistock were unable to hold on to it, as SB struck twice to take the lead for the first time. Substitutes Jack Haigh, Ethan Edwards and Sam Walker were introduced and all made an impact, indeed Haigh should have levelled the match but scuffed his shot.

With two minutes left Tavistock pushed forward in numbers.

Walker and Quinn nearly found openings until the ball fell to Wilson, who jinked through the SB defence before playing in Harvey to lob the keeper for his and Tavistock's fourth, and ensuring Tavistock gained a well deserved point.
