Duchy division 2 cup Dobwalls 1 Lamerton 1 THIS semi final encounter between the division?s runaway leaders gave an end result, which flattered the home side. Although Lamerton did not perform to their best, they were comfortably on top for most of the game. Paul Cowling had several one on one chances, particularly early on, but his pace seemed too much for the home linesman let alone the Dobwalls defence, with some very dubious offside decisions. More chances missed by Lamerton led to Dobwalls? only sniff of the half resulting in a penalty. Although Simon Breyley?s crass lunge missed the man, it also missed the ball. Pete Daniel went the right way, but it ended 1-0 at half time. The second half followed a similar pattern but as the game stretched Dobwalls could have made it two. Pete Daniel pulled off a critical save and Lamerton went forward, with wide men Steve Gibbings and Dave Byworth pushing on the pressure. The equaliser came when Kevin Swift pounced on a Cowling shot, which was only parried by the home keeper. It was a well-deserved away goal, which puts Lamerton in a good position for the return leg. Byworth and Cowling almost scored the winner late on, whilst Dan Healy missed an open goal, which was cleared off the line by a defender?s stud.
