A TAVISTOCK community group has received a welcome boost to its funds.

ROC Welcome Tavistock has received a £2,500 grant from the Santander Foundation's Community Plus initiative. It will help the direct activity and associated running costs of ROC Welcome Tavistock, which is a social opportunity for people with learning disabilities.

ROC Welcome Tavistock facilitates social wellbeing, improved health and emotional wellbeing to members. People are given the opportunity of choice and control and to make a positive contribution.

The club facilitates social relationships for members through club nights, monthly trips and new experiences. Around 50 people attend the club and the numbers are growing.

The grant will be a big help towards supporting everyone at the club, giving more personalised social outcomes and local sustainability. Jessica Douglas at Santander's Truro branch said: 'Community Plus allows our staff and customers to nominate local charities that are most in need of assistance. We are delighted to be supporting ROC and hope the donation makes a real difference to local people.'
