A SPECIAL service of remembrance to mark the D-Day anniversary is being held in Chagford this weekend.

The service of commemoration and thanksgiving on the 60th anniversary of the D-Day landings has been organised by Chagford Royal British Legion, parochial church council and the Rector, who have spent many weeks devising a service they hope will act as a positive reminder of what was given and lost on that day in 1944.

Throughout the week flags from all countries represented by allied forces will be flown from St Michael's Church tower and during the ecumenical service 60 candles will be lit — one for each year since D-Day.

Thoughts and special prayers will be read during the service and thanks will be given to the men and women of the allied forces who gave so much.

A warm welcome is extended to anyone who would like to attend the service and coffee will be served afterwards in Endecott House.
