OKEHAMPTON Carers Group are organising a number of activities for national Carers Week, which runs from June 12 to 18. On Monday, June 12, carers are invited to Exeter Cathedral for a carers service, followed by lunch. On Wednesday, June 13, Roadford Lake tea rooms will be hosting a carers cream tea. On Thursday, June 13, you can find out what is available for carers locally by visiting the carers information and fundraising stall which will be set up outside the Social Services office in West Street, Okehampton. Carers Week supports the UK?s six million carers ? the unpaid people who look after a sick or disabled relative, partner or friend. Many of them are not aware of the services available to them and the thousands of events taking place across the UK will help to promote the support that does exist for carers. This year, Carers Week is focusing on sickness and health, to highlight the effect that caring can have on carers? own health and wellbeing ? and encourage more carers to seek support from local services.
