JUNE 1 to 7 is Volunteers? Week, the UK?s annual celebration of the work volunteers do. During the week, events are held across the country to recognise, reward and recruit volunteers. In West Devon, Tavistock and Okehampton Volunteer Centres have teamed up to promote volunteering with planned events throughout the week: Thursday June 1 ? Tavistock Volunteer Centre is working with TASS to promote the need for volunteers to help with the new drop-In facility at Wesley House, Princetown. Friday June 2 ? Jacqui Waldron, outreach volunteer co-ordinator for Tavistock and Okehampton Volunteer Centres will be cycling across the borough to visit voluntary groups. Saturday June 3 ? Tavistock Volunteer Centre will have a stall at the pannier market promoting volunteering. Monday June 5 ? Jacqui Waldron will be visiting volunteers in the smaller towns and villages around Okehampton. Tuesday June 6 ? Okehampton Volunteer Centre is hosting a celebratory volunteers? tea party at the Ockment Centre with entertainment from the ?Get Changed? Theatre Company and attended by the deputy mayor, Cllr Mrs Kay Bickley. Wednesday June 7 ? Volunteers? Week displays will be on show at the volunteer centre in Tavistock, Tavistock Library and the Oxfam shop window, Okehampton all week.
