RESIDENTS in Whitchurch Road, concerned about traffic issues on the route between Tavistock and Horrabridge have set up a website in order to help their campaign for improved safety.

A working group was set up following a well-attended public meeting in Whitchurch Hall last November, in order to investigate the concerns raised and lobby the relevant authorities in order to resolve them.

Resident Sue Spackman said: 'Very informative and helpful meetings have been held with  the Devon county engineer's department regarding engineering measures, and with the Devon and Cornwall Police with regard to road safety issues.

'We appreciate that from these meetings, that all our suggestions to ensure that there are no serious incidents or fatalities anywhere between Tavistock and Horrabridge, must be information led.

'To assist us in providing up-to-date data the group has created a web site to enable users to add information.'

Sue said people can send messages via email by clicking onto the 'Our Whitchurch Rd' heading.

The website address is  http://www.iankp.co.uk">www.iankp.co.uk where details of issues which have already been collated are available to view.

The site is also accessible via Google.

Sue said: 'We seek information of any incident which has led to an insurance claim; the details should include the date and time of the incident, plus a brief description of what occurred.

'We also seek data from residents who walk, cycle, ride horses as well as drive in Whitchurch Road, regarding congestion and road safety issues.

'All of this will assist us in our discussions with the authorities.

'We know that any outcome will not occur quickly, but we are working towards some common solutions which will benefit us all.'
